Humatem is a support NGO founded in 1999 and in official relations with the World Health Organisation (WHO) since 2015. It specialises in the field of biomedical cooperation and aims to improve access to and use of medical technologies, mainly in low-resource countries or in crisis situations.

More specifically, it aims to :
- make the assistance provided by development aid actors in the field of support for medical equipment more effective, by contributing to the construction of a framework of good practices
- Strengthen health infrastructures and their capacity to manage health technologies.

To this end, Humatem manages a service platform dedicated to international solidarity actors, which consists of the following complementary activities:
► a medical equipment donation bank
► expertise and training services
► a resource centre
► the organisation of exchange and advocacy events

Its actions are in line with the WHO guidelines on medical equipment donations and are part of the global health technology initiative launched by the WHO in March 2008.

Humatem is also a member of several national and international networks in the fields of international solidarity and biomedical engineering.

Our expectations/interest in creating a partnership

The supporting NGO, Humatem, is looking for future corporate partners to improve access to and use of medical technologies in health facilities in developing countries.

Issues: Health and Medical Devices

North-South inequalities in access to health technologies are still present and at the same time, in Europe, the volume of waste electrical and electronic equipment (and indeed medical equipment) continues to be significant.

The partners will therefore meet around an eco-responsible and supportive approach aiming at :

  • Collecting stocks of dormant or unused medical equipment to give them asecond life,
  • Prepare them for re-use (tests, accessories, documentation) to support projects to provide medical equipment to health facilities in developing countries,
  • Install this equipment in these health facilities and train medical, paramedical and biomedical staff in its use and maintenance.

1st stage of the project: Developing medical equipment sourcing together

Contributions we are looking for from the future partner

  • Material Resources
  • Means/opportunities Financial
  • Additional skills/expertise
