Project in progress

Queer Pan African Places

Getting in touch

The aim of the project is to defend the rights of LGBTQI+ communities in Africa through their third places. LGBTQI+ communities in Africa are vulnerable in terms of access to health care and services, access to housing and access to employment among others, and they experience social and systemic violence and discrimination. Their experiences of oppression and resistance vary according to the social and legal context, etc. Strengthening their third places is an essential way to support these communities as they embody the identity and values of each community and allow community members to socialise freely, maintain hope and develop self-confidence. In order to move the project forward we are first looking for points of contact with these communities and their leaders, to identify their third places, and to see the reality of the intervention areas.
