Objective 1: Reduced level of food insecurity in rural communities
Food insecurity is more prevalent in rural communities dominated by family farms that paradoxically feed the majority of urban populations. This food insecurity is exacerbated by the vulnerability of these communities to environmental and societal shocks. In this context, it is essential to support these farms through the development of innovative and inclusive alternatives in order to improve the availability, accessibility and quality of food and the stability of these three pillars over time.
Objective 2: Environmental preservation and biodiversity conservation
Five key capitals are essential for survival: human capital, physical capital, financial capital, social capital and natural capital. Improving the standard of living of the rural poor generally means improving these five capitals, but more specifically natural capital. Indeed, the livelihood strategies of rural communities are essentially based on the exploitation of the environment and natural resources (soil, water, forests, etc.). This polarisation of natural capital in the livelihood strategies of rural communities increases their vulnerability to climate shocks and leads to a strong erosion of biodiversity. Preserving the environment will therefore require the inclusive development of initiatives to improve the level of other livelihood capitals in order to balance rural communities' strategies to fight poverty.
Objective 3: Diffusion of innovations for rural development
Improving the level of productivity is essential for increasing the level of food security. Innovations have a strong potential to improve productivity. However, most existing innovations are not widely disseminated and do not benefit the process of improving productivity. Working to disseminate these innovations will help to unlock their potential. Thus, by 2023, CODAPA will contribute through action research and the exploitation of the potential offered by ICTs to the development and/or adoption of technological innovations capable of sustainably improving agricultural productivity and farmers' incomes.

Objective 4: Improved governance of CODAPA
In order to achieve the objectives for the benefit of rural communities, it is important that CODAPA improves its governance system. This includes building the capacity of the organisation's members and staff in specific areas of management, poverty alleviation and sustainable development. It will provide a favourable structure for achieving the objectives.
