Sharing the same language, French-speaking regions around the world are privileged partners for French local authorities. Exchanges are made easier. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region focuses its efforts on Quebec and French-speaking Canada, the Rabat Salé Kénitra Region in Morocco and the Bélier Region in Côte d'Ivoire, where fruitful economic partnerships are developing. We also support exchanges with Armenia, Lebanon, the Timbuktu Region in Mali, the Tagant Region in Mauritania and the Hauts Bassins Region in Burkina Faso.
With its partner territories, the Region is notably involved in projects in the water, waste, renewable energy and agricultural sectors. It is committed to informing regional companies about the opportunities that exist in these sectors and target countries. It supports initiatives and projects designed to foster closer ties between NGOs and companies in a responsible approach.
In particular, in 2021 the Region has launched a joint call for projects with the Rhône Méditerranée Corse Water Agency to promote new coalitions of players for water and sanitation projects in French-speaking Africa. This call for projects is open until September 2021.
