Santé Sud was created in 1984 by health professionals faced with the limits of emergency aid and wanting to contribute to sustainable health development.
According to its motto "Acting without replacing", the Marseilles-based international solidarity association supports health, social and associative structures in developing countries. Convinced that the countries of the South have all the potential to provide the necessary care to their population and that it is up to them to choose the path of their development, its teams take care to accompany and train health and social professionals who will be able to care for the populations of their country themselves.
Since its creation, the NGO Santé Sud has carried out more than 100 programmes in some thirty countries.
It is currently active in France (Mayotte), sub-Saharan Africa (Mali, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Guinea, etc.) and North Africa (Tunisia, Morocco).
Its volunteer members, health professionals, accompany and train their counterparts in the framework of long-term programmes, developed in collaboration with our partners in the South.
We work together in a spirit of companionship, respecting a rigorous methodology and shared ethical rules.

Our principles:
- We act with respect for local policies, cultures and people.
- We take care never to substitute ourselves for local professionals.
- We recommend local products (medicines) and technologies as a priority.
- We refrain from using images that do not respect the dignity of the beneficiaries and give a false image of developing countries.
