No more schools without drinking water or toilets

This rural elementary school caters for around 200 children.

The school's parents are very active, having set up a school garden that supplies part of the school canteen.

Without water, it's the children who have to do the daily chores of watering themselves, washing their hands and tending the school garden.

Their wish is to install a borehole near the school garden and latrines, as well as a hand-washing facility.

These facilities also enable us to take action on hygiene, health and nutrition.

Since 2021, Antenna France has been working with the community of Ountivou on beekeeping projects.

Beekeeping is a source of income for the community, which aims to increase farm income by raising awareness among the village's young people, who are currently tempted to move to the city to find work.

The actions are therefore aimed primarily at high school students.

The project includes :

  • Construction of a borehole with pump and solar panels, and a sanitary block with washbasin,
  • Awareness-raising sessions on water, hygiene, health and malnutrition,
  • Care for malnourished children under 5,
  • An educational vegetable garden.
